Life’s been good the last few months. I finished all my classes at UA for the semester a lot better than I initially anticipated and got the chance to do some crazy awesome stuff to finish out my digital art class. Now I have a few weeks to re-cooperate in Huntsvegas before heading back to graphic design classes for the first time.Friday I’m heading to my favorite place on earth for some good shopping, eating, and Grand Ole Opry. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to make a late-night run to Cafe Coco so I can get a little coffee-inspired work done too. I love Nashville. When I’m there the designing part of me just clicks. Stuff with Mir of continues to blow me away. In about an hour I get to start the long drive out to here house for some homemade food and of course Dance Dance Revolution. I havn’t got to see her at all this week, which has just made the endless days of being couped up in New Market drive me even more insane. This week has made me miss Mir and for the first time I find myself almost missing Tuscaloosa.Over the break I’ll start trying to update this more. Hope all is well with everyone and if I don’t get back on in the next few days, Merry Christmas!

Fall

It’s getting colder. For some reason as the degree counts drop something in me clicks, and for a brief period the very fact of being alive is awesome. I wake up actually looking forward to going outside to get to class. Music sounds better. I feel closer to everyone, more connected. This time of year just does something to me. So much changes. Leaves turn. People start giving me free candy and tell me to get off their porch (generally adding something about how I’m destroying the holiday for the kids). I actually see both sides of my family for the sole purposes of being together and at the same time eating every piece of homemade goodness we can get our hands on. Christmastime comes around and people start ransacking all the stores for gifts. Starbucks aids them by hypercaffeinating them with Peppermint Mocha. It just all seems so alive. I can draw so many good emotions, so many good memories from this season. I can’t get enough of it. I love it. I’ll post a real update or something later. Hope all is well with everyone.

Fun Times

I’m so ready to move back to Tuscaloosa, lol.The summers almost over and I find myself with little to show. For the last few months I’ve been working as an intern at Locust Grove again. It’s been pretty fun. I would have liked to have worked with the youth more than I did, but it’s been pretty fun. Tomorrow the church finally moves out of the gym and back into the main building. I’ve been setting up visual equipment for the last week. It’s going to be awesome.Things with Mir continue to be awesome. She’s unfortunately in Chicago right now, but I get to pick her up Monday and spend the day with her! I wanna graduate and start a life, but these stupid classes and relentless attempts to get the ones I need will not end…that and I only have 65 hours. *sigh*I’ll update more later. Peace, God bless.

Valentine’s Day ’07

Valentines Day this year was amazing. I cooked, we exchanged gifts, and did some hardcore scrapbooking (see above picture). It was so awesome. I got Mir some pj’s from American Eagle and a wallet and she got me some expensive cookies and a shirt of Godzilla loving a plane! I never would have thought I could be so blessed to spend such a day with someone as awesome as Mir. She’s truly a Godsend!
Life right now is pretty nice. All my classes have finally leveled out in a sense. This week in particular my art classes have had light loads, causing this weird thing some people refer to as “normal sleep patterns”, which leaves me wondering why the heck the clock says 6 AM every morning and I’m not sleeping. No complaints though.

So, today I turned 21. And yes, a little after midnight I stood in line at WalMart with Miranda close behind and legally bought my first 6 pack. They didn’t even card me. I was sad.
This has really been the best birthday I’ve ever had though. I got to spend it with Miranda and my parents. Around 5 Mir and I left out for PF Changs and met my parents there. The food was awesome (orange peel shrimp = crazy delicious) and apparently they won’t sing to you, but just give you free desert. It’s like the greatest birthday policy ever! I was just happy to be in the company I was in. I couldn’t have thought of any other 3 people I’d rather have been with.
Afterwords me and Mir hit up World Market and EB and came back to Tuscaloosa. Thanks to Miranda for the b-day banner, aweosme gifts, and being the greatest girlfriend ever! Thanks for everyone whos been there this last week. Thanks to Miranda, Kala, James, and Matt for the awesome party and being great friends (one more than that).

Day #4

It’s my 4th day in Tuscaloosa and I’m loving it. Everything is going extremely well and I’m having the time of my life. This is the change of pace I’ve been looking for. I can walk to everything, my schedule is mainly comprised of art and film classes, and most importantly I’m finally with Miranda!!! My new roomates are great. This is going to be an awesome semester. I have classes for the next few days then on Friday I’m coming home for a day to get some stuff and then I’m coming back. The Adventure

In about seven hours I finish putting my things in my car, turn the key, and watch 684 disappear in the rear-view for couple of weeks. Miranda and I are heading back to Tuscaloosa (me for the first time in terms of classes and actually occupying a space) for school. Despite last semester, I have a very optimistic outlook for this semester. A new school and a new way of life await me. No more two and a half hour drives to see Miranda! So now I guess I’m…Bammy Bound.

So in 2006, I actually started liking alternative music, so I thought I might actually share what I found to be some of the best last year (albums may have not been actually released last year)

Nada Surf: The Weight is a Gift
This album is simply amazing. Music is down to earth while lyrics express feeling and emotions we can all relate to in life. A great CD to listen to just about any time.
Favorite Tracks: What Is Your Secret, The Blankest Year

Broken Social Scene: Self-Titled
This has to be one of the coolest sounds I’ve ever heard. Trancish indie-rock mixed with horns and trancish vocals work to create an awesome and unique sond. No matter how much I listen to this album I havn’t been able to stop!
Favorite Tracks: Windsurfing Nation, Hotel

Death Cab for Cutie: We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes!
Just another awesome (but early) DCFC album. Proof that their earlier sound beats the crap out of Plans

Motion City Soundtrack: Commit This To Memory
I loved the first album, so when this hit the shelves I was stoked! Lyrics like “Everything is alright” and “Lets get ****ed up and die” make this album fun and somewhat humorous to listen to while other tracks like “Together We’ll Ring In The New Year” bring in a more serious side tot he album. Overall, an amazing follow-up to an amazing album.

MuteMath: Self-Titled
After the amazing EP, I couldn’t resist the shiny allure of the full album! With a style made from mixing rock, experimental, techo, trance and a couple of other genres, this album presents itself as a unique and heavily complex (especially in terms of percussion) peice of musical art work. They rock live too!

Happy New Year to all! I hope all is well with everyone, the two or so that read this. The last few days have been a blast. Me and Miranda hit up Nashville for a well-needed escape from Huntsville. We ate at some awesome places, saw the Rockettes, and explored some of the city. Overall the trip was great and I can’t wait to move there. I dropped Mir off around 1 and got some groceries. On the way back everything seemed perfect and peaceful. It seemed like a new beggining. The few small clouds left from yesterday’s showers floated away and everything was clear. Overall I feel at peace. Eveything in life is going to work out. Maybe not overnight, maybe not always the ways I perceived them working out, but I think this year is going to be awesome. I have God and Miranda, and thats all I need. Happy New Year! Good night, God bless.

I’m Not Dead Yet

I need to update this more…maybe once every two months . Life has been busy, but ultimatly pretty cool the last couple of months. I’ve been getting ready to once-again move, this time to Tuscaloosa. Everything for Bama has gone through and been finalized, so as of the 7th I’m gone from Huntsville. Next week me and Miranda hit 8 months! After making it through this semester apart we can make it through anything. It’ll be nice having only two floors between us instead of over 2 hours! As of tommorow at 4 PM I’m out of Target’s system again. I need a semester off. My major/minor is Graphics Design/Film. I’ve been slacking on both fronts lately with seasonal hours. I’m stoked that I’ll finally get some time to just work on what I like. No work or anything for a semester. Its a godsend. Ultimatly I just want to get out of college though…get married and move to Nashville. I can’t complain about life right now however. Theres a post. Check back. I actually plan on updating this thing now.
